Musical Demonstration
A beloved rite of passage for the second-year class, the Musical Demonstration takes place each year in mid-February. It brings together acting, singing, movement, voice, collaboration, and theatrical imagination in a production created specifically for the students.

A Long-Standing ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Tradition
The Neighborhood ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has a long-standing tradition, reaching back to its original roots at the Henry Street Settlement House, of presenting demonstrations of student work in music, dance, and voice.
In the second year, students perform in a musical created and designed especially for their class. The production is tailored to the individual ensemble and is fully supported with costumes, scenery, musical accompaniment, direction, and choreography.
Friends and family are invited to share in this special mid-February performance, which has become an important milestone in the second-year experience.
A Rite of Passage
Created for the Ensemble
Rather than fitting students into a pre-existing production, the Musical Demonstration is shaped around the particular personalities, voices, strengths, humor, and creative energy of each class. It asks students to take artistic risks, work as an ensemble, and bring multiple areas of their training together in performance.
